GRANDMA'S WORLD OF STORIES
We are thrilled to announce the release of From Epic Fails to Sassy Tales, an anthology of monologues compiled by our very own trainer of the Mussoorie Branch, Jurish Nath. This exciting new collection is set to expand VOCAL's repertoire of performance-based examination material, giving our students even more diverse and dynamic options for their performances.
Jurish shared his thoughts on this milestone: "Since 2017, I've wanted to add to VOCAL's repertoire of monologues so that our students could have more options for their performance-based examinations. I've only had support from Mrs. D'souza and Lisa through the entire process. VOCAL has played a massive role in making this book a reality. I can't wait to see our students perform these and pick up a copy that they can cherish after they graduate."
This anthology features a range of monologues, inspired by folktales and stories we've all heard growing up. Jurish’s dedication to this project and to the artistic growth of our students is truly commendable.
We congratulate Jurish on the success of this book and look forward to watching our students bring these monologues to life. Here's to many more creative endeavors, Jurish!

On August 17th, The Bishop's School hosted a show that left the audience buzzing with excitement and admiration. When a concert is announced at The Bishop's School, everyone knows it’s going to be a hit—this institution never disappoints. But this time, the students delivered more than just a performance; they gave us a full-blown rock concert that rivaled any professional gig.
Inspired by the iconic movie School of Rock, starring Jack Black, the concert was a tribute to the power of music, youth, and sheer talent. And the students of classes 7, 8, and 9 did not just step up to the challenge—they owned it. From the first note to the last, the energy was electric, and the talent on display was nothing short of extraordinary.
One of the standout performers was Aarush Shelke, a student drummer who played one of the main characters in the show. Aarush, a proud student of the Vocal Institute, delivered a drumming performance that was the backbone of the entire concert, driving the rhythm and setting the stage for a night to remember. His skill and passion were evident in every beat, proving that he is not just a student of music, but a true artist in the making.
The brilliance of the concert didn’t stop at the performances. Behind the scenes, Clinton Fernandez, a staff member of The Bishop's School and also a student of the Vocal Institute, did an excellent job as one of the directors. The other directors, Mr. Phazang and Ms. Celine Littlewood, also played crucial roles in making this concert a grand success. Their collective vision and leadership brought the students' talents to the forefront, creating a show that was as visually stunning as it was musically impressive.
The setlist was a mix of classic rock anthems that had everyone in the audience tapping their feet, singing along, and, in many cases, getting up to dance. The students delivered powerhouse renditions of "We Will Rock You," "Zombie," and the final song, "The Final Countdown," each performed with a level of skill and enthusiasm that belied their age. It was clear that these young musicians are not just talented—they are gifted with musical genius.
Kudos to the stage crew as well, whose efforts in managing the props, lighting, and sound made the concert a seamless and visually captivating affair. Their attention to detail was impeccable, enhancing every performance and ensuring that the audience was fully engaged from start to finish.
But the finishing touch that truly made the night unforgettable was the curtain call. After "The Final Countdown," the teachers revealed a surprise that no one saw coming—they were going to play a song live for the cast and crew. Led by Headmaster Mr. Gaynor on electric guitar, Mr. John on vocals and rhythm guitar, and Mr. Phazang on bass, the teachers took the stage, and as they played, the cast and crew were celebrated in a heartfelt curtain call. This unexpected performance was a delightful surprise for crew members, audience members, and parents alike, adding a personal and joyous end to an already spectacular evening.
As the final notes of the teachers' performance echoed through the hall, the audience erupted in applause, a standing ovation that lasted long after the last chord had faded. It was a night that none of us will soon forget—a testament to the hard work, dedication, and incredible talent of The Bishop's School students.
In a world where youth often struggle to find their voice, The Bishop's School of Rock concert was a powerful reminder that sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of encouragement and a lot of heart to create something truly magical. Bravo to all the performers, directors, stage crew, and teachers—here's to many more nights of rock and roll glory!

At The Vocal Institute, we believe in the transformative power of speech and drama education, and our latest initiative is a testament to that belief. Recently, our founder, Ms. Kimberly Tracy D'Souza, along with our esteemed colleague Lisa Lewis, traveled to MSB Mumbai to train the dedicated teachers of Idara MSB. This prestigious institution, with over 26 schools globally, spanning the Middle East, East Africa, and the Indian Subcontinent, is a beacon of educational excellence.
Our mission was to introduce and initiate a new speech and drama curriculum specifically designed by The Vocal Institute for MSB. This comprehensive curriculum includes an annual lesson plan that caters to students from Young Performers all the way to Class 10. It's crafted to nurture and develop the creative and communicative abilities of every student, ensuring that they not only excel in their academic pursuits but also in their personal growth and self-expression.
The teachers at MSB were incredibly receptive to this new curriculum. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they engaged in the activities and participated in the demo classes we conducted. It was inspiring to see their commitment to enriching their students' educational experiences, and their excitement for the new tools and strategies that will help them achieve this.
We at The Vocal Institute are delighted to be associated with MSB International and are looking forward to strengthening our ties, which have already spanned 8 fruitful years. This collaboration is more than just an educational partnership; it is a shared vision to empower the next generation through the arts, and we are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead.
As we continue to work together, we are confident that this new speech and drama curriculum will have a lasting impact on the students of MSB, helping them develop into confident, articulate, and creative individuals. We are honored to play a part in shaping their futures and look forward to many more years of collaboration with MSB International.
